The use of solar energy offers huge potential for natural resource and climate protection, and for the expansion of renewable energies on the road to a future-oriented energy supply.
Although India was the first country in the world to set up a ministry of non-conventional energy resources, in early 1980s, it is lagging behind other nations in the use of renewable energy (RE). Renewable energy accounts to only 9.71% of the total installed capacity, of which solar power is only a miniscule 0.06%.
India is densely populated and has high solar insolation, an ideal combination for using solar power in India. India is already a leader in wind power generation. In the solar energy sector, some large projects have been proposed, and a 35,000 km2 area of the Thar Desert has been set aside for solar power projects, sufficient to generate 700 GW to 2,100 GW.
APCA Power Private Limited, a subsidiary formed by Asia-Pacific Communication Associates Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Vivek Chaudhri for the purpose of developing renewable energy, has received an allocation of 5 MW Solar Photo Voltaic Power Plant (Project) in Gujarat under the Gujarat State Solar Program and has signed a 25 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL).
This is just the beginning for we aim for the stars! APCA Power intends to be the leading Indian company in the solar power sector with activities spread across the globe. We shall soon be known as the developer of outstanding manufacturing facilities for SPV power projects anywhere in the world.
